DSEP letter to Sport and Exercise Psychologist Employers

DSEP is in the process of writing to individuals and organisations who employ a sport and exercise psychologist or who may consider doing so to promote sport and exercise psychologists and outline the roles of Health Professionals Council and the British Psychological Society.

Members who are concerned about the continued use of the title Sport or Exercise Psychologist by non HPC registered service providers might be interested in the following from Stephen Smith:
"I am an HPC investigative Panel member and I am pushing the HPC to expedite action against non registered "psychologists" acting in this field. Members can raise complaints directly with HPC. However, some feel reluctant due to a number of reasons including reprisal. As such, I am happy to act as an intermediary and take those complaints into the file I am collating to present to the HPC. Basically, the more evidence that I can collate that this is a real issue the more likely it is we can generate some action in the HPC. However, members must realize I can only act as an intermediary and sharing with me is NOT the same as tasking a complaint formally to the HPC as I am acting on this matter in a personal capacity only and not formally on behalf of the HPC."

Best wishes
